Last night, a massive fire destroyed the roof and spire of the Norte Dame in Paris. DJI drones helped firefighters put out the inferno. French firefighters used the drones, likely a DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual and an M210 borrowed from the culture and interior ministries, to aid them in tackling the blaze.

On March 21, Skyfire Consulting, a drone services and training company created by Matt Sloane and certificated flight instructor Ben Kroll, announced FAA approval of the first authorization to fly drones for emergency response beyond the pilot’s line of sight. That was a significant step forward for a police “drone as first responder” program that is among 10 collaborations around the country involving local and tribal governments and drone industry leaders chosen by the FAA and Department of Transportation to demonstrate advanced missions and applications for drones.

On April 6th, an event will take place called the GPS 2019 Week Rollover and DJI just released a statement saying that their drones have been “thoroughly tested” and that the Chinese drone maker can confirm that their platforms “will not be affected by the rollover.”
